There are many types of air conditioners available on the market. Each has its strengths and weaknesses and the one best for you will depend on your needs. Here are the four main types of air conditioners you can buy:
- Window air conditioning units. These air conditioners consist of a single unit that sits in your window and pumps hot air from inside the space to the outdoors while blowing cool air inside. These units are easy to install and can be used in practically any room with a window. They are also affordable and effective. The downside is that these systems tend to be somewhat noisy.
- Portable air conditioning units. As the name suggests, this type of AC system is portable and can be moved from room to room. The hot air is pulled from the room and returned outside through a hose vent. The upside to these systems is that they do not take over your window space and you’ll still have the view and use of your window. The downside of these air conditioners is that they also tend to be somewhat noisy and take up floor space in the room.
- Ductless air conditioning units. These systems are similar to having central air conditioning, but for homes that don’t have ductwork in place. Installing ductwork in a home that doesn’t have any is expensive and invasive. This is a great cooling alternative that can supply you with cool air.
- Central air conditioning. For homes with full ductwork, you can have central air conditioners installed. Warm air is taken from various parts of the house and cooled at a central location and then redistributed through the ductwork. Central AC gives you the luxury of being able to control the temperature by setting the thermostat.
Regardless of which air conditioner you choose for your home, you can count on Ryals Brothers Inc. to install and maintain the system for you.
